open the doors of your imagination

Tamdaght (Ouarzazate), Morocco

"It is literature which for me opened the mysterious and decisive doors of imagination and understanding.  To see the way others see.  To think the way others think.  And above all, to feel."

Valley of 1000 Kasbahs

Skoura (Ouarzazate), Morocco

Skoura is located in the heart of the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs smack dab in the middle of a palm grove surrounded by deserted landscapes with views of the Atlas Mountains in the distance.

This particular kasbah, Kasbah Amerhidil, is featured on the 50 Dirham Note of Morocco's currency.

fortress wall

Essaouira, Morocco

Essaouira is one of, what is said to be, six towns along the Atlantic coast of Morocco that Portugal seized in the 16th century.  They built fortresses around the cities to protect themselves from further invasions.

crazy goats!

Somewhere outside of Essaouira, Morocco

Argan oil is a valuable commodity in Morocco and comes from the tree seen in this picture.  The seeds inside the nut are roasted and ground to a paste.  From this paste, the oil is then extracted.  Goats can be a problem to these trees because they climb them and eat the leaves and nuts.
